Comparison/Contrast

Two things that I enjoy is playing basketball and soccer. Basketball and Soccer are very different sports. Some of these differences are the rules of the two games. In Soccer you can't use your hands only your feet. In Basketball you can only use your hands not your feet. Soccer is played eleven on eleven. Basketball is five on five and is played indoors. Another difference is that there is a goalkeeper in Soccer but there is no goalkeeper in basketball. Although they are different sports they have very few similarities. One similarity is that they both have referees. I like to play both sports equally.

Week 2 Assignment

Topic sentence: Hurricane Ike is very dangerous hurricane and people in Texas will lose their lives if they dont follow orders to leave their homes.

The way I did this assignment was I read the article twice. Then I came up with my topic sentence. after i looked for words/sentences that gave details in the story.

Words/sentences that give details in the story: -Residents living in single-family homes in some parts of coastal Texas face "certain death" if they do not heed orders to evacuate ahead of Hurricane Ike's arrival
- "If you think you want to ride something out, and people are talking about a 20-foot wall of water coming at you, then you better think again," White said.
- "Most of the area will be uninhabitable for weeks ... if not longer,"
- "Do not take this storm lightly,"

educ108 reading skillz

My reading skills are good but somtime when im reading I lose focus and start thinking about different things. Sometimes I start drawing in the book or whatever im reading. Then I forget what I read and i have to start reading it all over again. I think what would help is the material that i read. For example is if i like the material that im reading i would focus more and understand it better.
